Selling your car quickly or not at all is about setting the right price!
It is a difficult decision to make when comes the time to sell your car, what can I get for my used car? Don’t set your expectations to high.
Setting the right price
Ensure the price for the car you selling is realistic. If you ask for too much you may not get any enquiries. Too low and one may wonder what's wrong with the car. Always make sure to leave
some room for bargaining.
How much can I get for my car?
First things to do is find out what your car is worth, based on the age, kilometres travelled and its condition. Make sure you are researching and comparing other cars for sale like yours on the market by looking through other car classifieds, comparing your car, the condition and kilometres.
Please consider the following:
To get a better idea of what your car is worth, decide what the current market value is based on the car’s age, kilometres travelled and its condition in general.
Check the price’s others are selling their similar cars for. Don’t forget that dealers can get more money for a similar car as they provide many benefits, i.e. security, warranty, car inspections and some other services you cannot provide as a private seller.
Consider any work that needs to be done on your car; are the tyres in need of replacement, when was last you serviced the car, is there any panel damage or any rust, are the brakes in good condition? All these things should be considered when you are setting your price.
Is your car popular or not? The more distinctive your car is the better chance you have getting a better price or offer.
In general, you should establish what you think your car is worth and price it slightly higher so you have a bit of room to negotiate the price
